Parts pressed together in automated processes can become misaligned or improperly assembled due to variations in a number of processes. Incorrect setup, wrong part, defective part, and loss of lubrication are a few issues that can result in quality problems. Press fitting manufacturing often involves high cycle rates with toggling arms or drive mechanisms that offer few options for sensor integration so the PVM is designed to mount onto the frame of the machines for the greatest convenience.

How it works

The Piezo-strain transducer is an excellent alternative for mounting onto existing fixtures or moving machine parts to detect micro deflection of the part relative to force applied.  Force variation can quickly be detected. The Peak hold feature of the Process Signal Conditioner will capture high frequency force spikes that would normally exceed the scan rate of the machine controller or PLC for effective detection of excessive force.
